Celtic Cove Catholic Bookstore Statement of Personal Faith

Rite of Christian initiation of Adults, page 351, #585: ”I believe and profess all that the Catholic Church teaches, believes, and proclaims to be revealed by God”

In particular, I affirm and believe:

  • all that the Catholic Church teaches about the True Presence of Christ in the Most Holy Eucharist. I believe in Jesus’ presence in Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity from the moment of consecration, in the appearance of bread and wine. I worship and adore Christ in the Most Holy Eucharist.

  • the Catholic Churchs teaching on life from conception to natural death. All human life has inviolable dignity, and every human being has the right to life.

  • the Catholic Church teaching on contraception. As it states in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, “every action which, whether in anticipation of the conjugal act, or in its accomplishment, or in the development of its natural consequences, proposes, whether as an end, or as a means, to render procreation impossible” is an intrinsically evil action. (CCC2370)

  • the Catholic Church teaching that every person is called to chastity as appropriate for their present state of life. I accept the Catholic Church teaching regarding the grave evil of pre-marital sexual and extra-marital sexual acts including masturbation, fornication, homosexual acts, and the viewing of pornography.

  • the teachings of the Church regarding Mary, our Blessed Mother, Mother of Jesus Christ, and Mother of His Holy Church. In accordance with the Catholic Church, I give her special honor and devotion, in the example of her Son.

  • that our loving God has given us free will. We may choose to remain separate from God on earth, and endure this separation for all eternity in hell (CCC 1033). Or we may freely choose to live in Him forever in Heaven.

  • that those who die in God’s friendship may still be in need of purification to achieve perfect holiness. This purification is known as Purgatory. (CCC 1030-1032).

  • Catholic social teaching which upholds the dignity of every human being made in the image and likeness of God, and seek to assist all those in need.
