By Delphine Pasteau, Illustrated by Violin Costa
A delightful retelling of the life and times of one of history’s most beloved saints, Francis of Assisi (1182-1226). Delphine Pasteau guides young readers through all the important events of Francis’s days, from his birth to his death, and provides valuable context from medieval world history – knights, the crusades, and the birth of the Franciscan order!
Young and middle grade readers will appreciate the rich descriptions of Francis’s beliefs and actions, and the lively accompanying illustrations. A timeline, mini-history lesson with maps on the Crusades, and games and puzzles at the end of the book complete this inspiring piece of Franciscan spirituality and history for kids.
After two years working for Human Resources, Delphine Pasteau turned to teaching. She has been a primary school teacher for 10 years in Paris, and happily conveys her passion for history and literature to her pupils. Deeply committed into the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, she mainly works with handicapped people. She now lives in Montrouge, France.
Violaine Costa is a young illustrator. She graduated from the Émile Cohl Drawing Art School and dedicates herself to illustrating children books.
